VOIP (Voice over internet protocol) Telecommunications
Voice over Internet Protocol or simply referred to as VOIP for short is the term for making telephone calls over a data network. This data network could be the one that links all of your companies branches together or it could be across Turnstone’s Converged Business Network.
The VOIP protocol has been in development for a long time and has traditionally been used for pc to pc communications.
VOIP provides more functionality than a traditional analog telephone system. The phone calls then become pieces of data passing over a network, this makes extending the functionality of the communications system easy. One example of this is on a traditional analog telephone system to retrieve a voicemail message you had to be sitting at your desk in the office with physical access to your telephone, with a VOIP communications system you can have that same voicemail message delivered to your email, to a company intranet, delivered to the phone on your desk or to any device that is VOIP capable for example a handheld diary.
The cost savings are another great benefit of deploying a VOIP communications system in your business. By diverting calls between your branches over the Turnstone Converged Business Network we can remove all the costs associated with inter-branch communication. Also if a user of the Turnstone Converged Business Network in Auckland was to make a call to a number in Wellington the call would travel from Auckland to Wellington over the Turnstone Backbone network and will break out in Wellington for the price of a local call.
Line rental and wire maintenance charges are also removed when you switch to the Turnstone Converged Business Network.
Telephone System Monitoring
In a call center environment one of the tasks the call centre manager undertakes, is the task of ensuring the quality of the phone calls and training of the staff. Turnstone have developed specific software that when integrated with the Cisco Call Manager system will record calls, and report back on call statistics and patterns.
This software has been designed to be easy to use and to provide relevant information. Simplicity is the key.
Fax to Anything
Turnstone have faxing services that receive faxes and they can then deliver that fax to you via email in a PDF or TIFF format or we can post that fax to the company intranet. The unique aspect of Turnstone’s faxing solutions is we do this without modems. There is no charge for having a telephone line dedicated for the fax machine.
Internet Access
The Turnstone Converged Business Network is an enterprise grade network. The consistency of connection speed is achieved by deploying top quality Cisco network equipment and maintaining a business only network with no domestic clients. By using strict quality of service (QOS) policies on our routers we downgrade the priority of traffic that is not necessary for business eg: peer 2 peer file sharing. This upgrades the priority of traffic that is necessary and important for businesses such as email and web access.
Private Networks
Through the Turnstone Converged Business Network we can link all of your companies branches together to share information and communicate. Turnstone can build you a wide area network (WAN) by using a mixed variety of connections that meet your speed / bandwidth requirements and budget constraints.
Turnstone’s network utilizes a high speed backbone between Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Your business can use either a Fiber Optic, Frame Relay, SHDSL or ADSL connections. We assign each branch with two VPN channels one for voice traffic and the other for data traffic. The benefits of using two VPN channels are QOS and Security; with QOS we can ensure the quality of voice calls is kept constant and as all the traffic that flows across the links is encrypted to keep it secure
