Cure Kids $10.00 Challenge
29/07/2008 Please help us!!!
Barbara and Belinda will be taking part in the Accor $10 Queenstown Challenge which starts in Auckland on 1st October and finishes in Queenstown on the 3rd October. Cure Kids has been Turnstones customer for 3 years and its time we gave something back !!
The 2008 Accor $10 Queenstown Challenge involves 35 teams of two hitch hiking and also some pre-arranged travel such as the Interislander ferry, between Auckland and Queenstown. But its not that easy...the innovative team at CluedUp will set challenges to test us physically, creatively and mentally as we journey from north to south!
With just $10 we will have to use all possible creativity and ingenuity to make it without flying or driving ourselves. Other people can, of course, drive us, so we hope we meet plenty of generous NZers on the way who wont mind picking up hitch-hikers just this once!
Sound crazy but fun !!!
Well yes it is a little; however this is all in the name of funding medical research for children with life threatening illnesses (like diabetes and cystic fibrosis). We only have to find the energy and willpower to survive these 3 days while the kids we are raising funds for have to find the same determination to face their challenges on a daily basis.
So please could you sponsor us? Every dollar counts!
Not only are we trying to raise our entry fee of $7,000 for our team, we would like to be the winners of the Cure Kids Champion Fundraising Trophy, which will be presented at the prize giving ceremony at the end of the Race.
Select the "MAKE A DONATION" button below. Its simple, fast and totally secure and the money goes straight to Cure Kids.
If you live in New Zealand your donation is tax deductible and a receipt will be issued.
Thanks for your support!
(and keep an eye on our blog theyll be some hilarious stories, guaranteed!)
THE TURNSTONE TEAM
TEAM MEMBER 1 Barbara Smith
Turnstone has been a supplier to Cure Kids for the past 3 years. We have watched the positive fund raising events that have grown over this time, and we are now as a company in a position to support Cure Kids very worthy efforts.
I have a blended family with my partner Tony, with 4 children aged 12 to 16.
We live on a lifestyle block in Dairy Flat with a menagerie of animals. This creates a very busy lifestyle with everyone participating in sport and other activities. Kids are a huge focus in our lives.
Last June, I competed in the Corporate Boxing Fight Night, and we were the only womens fight of the night. This was a huge personal challenge, and a great fundraiser as well.
Belinda and I met some years ago while we were both completing our Helicopters Pilots License at North Shore Airfield. We have been partners in crime ever since!
I am looking forward to getting to Queenstown in one piece, having a whole bunch of fun along the way, and a pocket full of money to boot!!
TEAM MEMBER 2 Belinda Richardson
Cure Kids is a customer of my close friend Barbara Smith who has never been short of ideas on how to have fun, get us in to trouble and of course help a great cause along the way. I live with my husband on a lifestyle block in Coatesville, my husband has two young boys who think this is a great idea and would love to come along and be involved, I told them maybe next time!.
The challenge I am looking forward to, but being able to raise the money for such a fantastic cause will make this a really satisfying accomplishment.
I am really excited about getting to Queenstown and very curious as to what will happen long the way. |
